#throwbackthursday to my uncles wedding 2 years ago (I think 🙈) Back when I could eat anything and everything and get away with it. I look back and I can't see how I was this skinny. I look at myself today and think it is impossible to get that figure back. I no I'm so much closer than I was a few months ago. But I'm at the brick wall at the moment. Once I can over come it. 'I had my son 8 years ago and suffered with severe postnatal anxiety as soon as he was born (I'd never had anxiety previously), I felt very alone and didn't speak to my health visitor or GP at the time but wish I had. . ‘In 2018/19 I spent a very long time trying to get access to ADHD testing to figure out why I can’t concentrate, stay on task, or regulate my emotions. It took months to get seen and then I had to answer multiple assessment phone calls, despite that being a huge issue for my anxiety. When I was about to be passed over to in person assessment , the worker who had been calling me called an extra time. Only now At 8pm. From a withheld number at his home. There was, it turned out, no real reason to call. He asked vague questions whilst I had to listen to him wanking. I could hear every sound. He built a relationship where he had power, heard all about my traumas, then wanked over the phone at me - knowing I was anxious about phone calls. #mentalhealth #anxiety #sexualharrassment #abuseofpower #metoo

I'm always working really hard when it comes to my #mentalhealth, but lately it has seemed a fruitless struggle, a heavy shroud that makes the simplest of tasks feel impossible. This feeds the endless cycle of self-doubt and #sabotage, after all, I'm not worthy of self love if I am such a failure. However, after a variety of #selfcare strategies and a bit of personal development work, I'm feeling more positive. I'm applying my #hypnobirthing techniques to my life, choosing words carefully (couldn't resist this Flawsome mug I spotted yesterday!), and talking to myself with 'can' and 'will' #language. I bought a new diary, the #butterflies symbolic of #growth and #transformation (sometimes used to represent life after #birthtrauma- post traumatic growth). It also focuses me on looking ahead, making #positive plans and thinking about where I want Simply Natal to grow to in the next year. (News of an exciting event coming soon!). Day 1 of #menses has begun 🌹 . I have been mentally [hello #anxiety 😓] and physically preparing for this day for a couple weeks now 🧘🏻‍♀️ [#thisisendo 🎗] . Catching up on some interesting telly that was on over mental health week. The one that particularly caught my attention was actor 'David harewood - psychosis and me' I too was was diagnosed with this in my late 20s. I lost the plot and was sectioned after a psychotic episode in 2009. Everyones case is different but also have things in common e.g. Delusions, hearing voices (which I had relentlessly) and muddled thoughts. I believed many strange things during my illness and could relate to what the young lad in the intervention centre featured in the programme was saying about being in a video game. I believed I was trapped.... some people had got 'out' of the scenario and were just empty shells while other people were still real and trapped like me. I now volunteer in the hospital where I was once a patient. I hopefully help those who have been through the same thing as me. I am a great believer in peer support. EXERCISE/CATHARSIS 💪 🌈 I'm not going to lie, yesterday was a tough and emotional day. Everything felt shaky; there's lots of change on my horizon and I'm struggling to find steady things to hold fast to. To cope with that I'm trying to remember that I can make my own steady things. In fact, that's all I can do! Everything else is outside of my control but my actions are all mine. 🌈 There was a time when exercise helped me to stay steady. As I said recently, it hasn't felt like that for a while but yesterday I got a glimpse! I was actually crying doing these reps, feeling sad and scared about change and uncertainty in the future, trying to remember that life doesn't stand still and that's what's so glorious, even when it doesn't feel that way. But slowly, by controlling my physical actions, my mind started to feel calmer. I stopped crying, my breathing slowed. I started to remember that there's always this 💖 🌈 I hope you can find some calm today too 💕

An incredible podcast episode by @findingmastery on this episode Dr. Bessel van der Kolk shared how people adapt to traumatic experiences and what’s at the root of the trauma. I HIGHLY recommend giving it a listen even if you think you’ve never been impacted by traumatic events. Alarm at 0400, prep coffee, make a shake, write out my training for the day and reflect on my sleep/physical and mental preparation for the day, and initiate my breathing drills then initiate my warm-up. Usually into the work by 0435-0445. Strength first followed by conditioning. Endurance is later in the day. That’s it, just build a routine and stick to it! What’s your routine? Book 31 of 2019: Lullaby by Leila Slimani. So this a story of a nanny who killed her two wards.Yes, yayang pinatay ang kanyang dalawang French na alaga. . . Bago niyo ako murahin at magsisisigaw ng spoiler angina mamatay la na bakla ka, um, fiest chapter po, yun na ang bungad. Dead children and a clueless woman. So yeah, tangina niyo rin, po. . . Anyway, ... . . The story was super compelling, everything was written beautifully until it ended. Just like that. Pathetic ang buhay ni ate. Probelmado siya. Malungkot siya. Her employers were jerks. But she also had a problematic work history, as it seemed that she can't commit to anything and she gives up when the going gets tough. So yun, may sayad si gueeguelayne. Tapos, yun, two kids dead and I was like, huh? Not a lot court trials, no deep character study, no criminal mind profiling. It was like I thought I listened to an incomplete audiobook. So, I skimmed through the ebook. Same weird delicious start but incomplete story. So yes, this is a book for anyone who loves getting blue balls. Beautiful everything only to end with a less than satisfying ending. Okay, so I may not be a sophisticated reader, so there's that. . . (Day 8) Gooooood morning mental athletes! Have a read of your fast forward statements from last weekend. Do you feel good about them or disappointed? We are going to shift things up a gear and I want you to understand the power of your language, both to yourself and others around you. What story are you telling yourself and others? I don’t mean the story of what happened over the weekend. I mean the story that you BUY from your subconscious inner child? The power of the language that you use on a daily basis can impact on the way you behave throughout the day! I know its lot to take in, but hopefully you trust me enough by now. If I said to you “don’t think of a pink elephant” you cant help but think of a pink elephant. This is because your brain has to first think about the thing that it’s not supposed to think about, in order not to think about it in the first place! Nuts I know. The next time you tell yourself “I’m not going to be able to walk tomorrow” or “I’m so tired” guess how your inner child will respond! (TASK 8) Your task is to use positive words when talking to yourself, describing yourself or talking to others especially after a workout! focus on the positive effects of you training, so maybe you’re feeling energised, proud of yourself or feeling toned! So start by making a list of all your excuses and the things that you say to yourself. Then make a positive version of those comments. Make a note of the trigger also. To anyone who hasn’t heard about the fast track study, there is about to be a study conducted on 136 teenagers where they will be put on a starvation diet for a year. I am shocked and disgusted that despite warnings from eating disorder organisations and professionals all over Australia that this will most likely have a detrimental effect on many of the participants relationship with food and develop serious eating disorders. A good friend of mine who has had a 13 year battle with Anorexia after her GP put her on a diet to loose weight at age 10 has she has been incredibly brave in sharing her story as a further piece of evidence as to show how dangerous a diet at this kind of age can be, even under the eye of a doctor and parents. She’s spoken out again in this podcast which I highly recommend listening to and signing the petition against this study. I’ll put both links in the comments

Last summer I visited the Chalice Well Gardens in Glastonbury to do some meditation. Being there helped me collect and reorder my thoughts, destressing and calming my mind & body.
